This vibrant celebration, hosted by Tropicalfete, is slated to begin at 1 p.m. on Sunday, August 30, enveloping the famed Broadway intersection between West 46th and West 47th streets in a lively showcase of Caribbean music and colorful dance. A Special Recognition for Rupee Not only will Rupee deliver electrifying performances, including his crowd-favorite hit, “Tempted to Touch,” but he will also receive significant honors recognizing his contributions to music and advocacy for HIV/AIDS awareness. Rupee, who first came into the limelight in 2004 with his iconic tracks, is slated to be honored with a Mayoral Certificate of Recognition and proclamations from the New York City Council, New York State Senate, and New York State Assembly. Celebrating Caribbean Culture The essence of the Caribbean will permeate Times Square as mas bands and performers from across the region come together to showcase traditional masquerade presentations.
