On December 19, 2024, CBP personnel, aided by an aircraft, first detected Jones piloting the boat, which was traveling from The Bahamas to the U.S. mainland. Upon entering U.S. waters, the vessel was intercepted by CBP’s Air and Maritime Operations team, who ordered it to stop. The passengers aboard were found to be citizens of multiple nations, including the United Kingdom, Haiti, Honduras, and India, highlighting a crucial issue surrounding international migration routes.
