As Guyana approaches its general elections, the political atmosphere is charged with anticipation following the recent culmination of campaigns by the three key parties vying for the country's leadership. On the final campaign night, the ruling People’s Progressive Party Civic (PPP/C), the opposition coalition A Partnership for National Unity (APNU), and the newly formed We Invest in Nationhood (WIN) party gathered thousands of supporters in grand rallies across the nation.
Rallying for Votes: Party Strategies and Promises
President Irfaan Ali, leading the PPP/C, passionately addressed supporters at Lusignan. He underscored the party's commitment to addressing pressing issues such as housing, healthcare, and infrastructure, urging the electorate: "The smell of victory is in the air; let us not take victory for granted." His optimism was mirrored by PPP/C General Secretary Bharrat Jagdeo, who expressed strong confidence in their possibility of winning.

The Guyana Elections Commission (GECOM) confirmed its readiness with provisions for polling agent submissions to ensure a fair process, responding to earlier threats by WIN for legal action if their representatives were excluded. In a bid to promote a peaceful election, local organizations and the police have called for calm, with the Georgetown Chamber of Commerce and Industry condemning any threats of violence. Police Commissioner Clifton Hicken reassured the populace of the force's commitment to safeguarding citizens' rights on election day.
