"This stellar performance emphasizes what can be achieved through collaboration," he stated.

Progress and Challenges Ahead

As of 2024, the Caribbean has made substantial progress in treatment accessibility, with the number of individuals living with HIV receiving treatment rising from 53,000 in 2010 to 250,000 in 2024. Notably, the death toll from AIDS dropped to 4,800 in 2024, down from 6,100 in 2020. However, new HIV infections have seen only a modest decline of 21%, highlighting a critical area needing more attention. The region accounted for 15,000 new infections in 2024, and countries like Haiti continue to bear a significant burden.

While the statistics paint a hopeful picture of improvement, the response to HIV/AIDS in the Caribbean must not diminish.
